Next, you can equip various parts to provide some boosts which may give you the edge next time you tackle a particularly tricky stage. First, you can unlock a few different armors for X including the brand new Falcon Armor and Gaea Armor. The question is: how could it possibly live up to Mega Man X4? For starters, it's a very similar game when it comes to gameplay yet Mega Man X5 boasts some welcome additions. Mega Man X4 is a blast whether you're playing as X or Zero Mega Man X5Ī few years later, Mega Man X5 released and I just had to have it. For starters, I loved all of the intricate upgrades in Mega Man X3 including the chip upgrades, gold armor, and 4 distinct ride armors yet Mega Man X4 features only a simple selection of upgrades. With all of that being said, a few minor aspects somewhat disappointed me.

Throw in some cheesy voiced anime cutscenes, cool vehicles such as the Ride Chaser and a couple of Ride Armors, and the fantastic Ultimate Armor upgrade and you're left with one thrilling 2D action game. Wow what a great game! It also features one of the best soundtracks in the entire series although the SNES version of Mega Man X3 contains my personal favourite music. Not only were the graphics sharper and livelier, you can play through the entire game as either X or Zero which is awesome, especially considering how fun it is to control Zero and his array of enjoyable abilities that he gradually unlocks from defeating the memorable collection of bosses.
